For his leadership and valor, Aviation Electronics Technician First Class Tooker was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 2 Gold Stars, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Aviation Electronics Technician First Class Tooker was the radarman of an AD-3Q Skyraider dive bomber with Detachment 41, Composite Squadron 33 aboard the aircraft carrier USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CVA-31). On July 11, 1952, his aircraft was diving at a target at Pyongyang, North Korea, when it was hit by anti-aircraft fire. It lost part of its tail surface and crashed about a mile away. He was presumed dead on May 25, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
