The American Battle Monuments Commission, established by Congress in 1923, is an agency of the executive branch of the federal government. ABMC — guardian of America’s overseas commemorative cemeteries and memorials — honors the service, achievements and sacrifice of U.S. armed forces.

Mission

The American Battle Monuments Commission, the preeminent guardian of America’s commemorative military cemeteries and memorials worldwide, honors the achievements of the U.S. armed forces by preserving their legacy of service and by seeking new and innovative ways of reflecting the evolving nature of sacrifice.

Vision

ABMC is the premier agency for commemorating and venerating American military service, sacrifice, and achievements, fulfilling the promise of General of the Armies John J. Pershing that “Time will not dim the glory of their deeds.”
