Sergeant First Class Wood was a member of Company B, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on February 14, 1951 and returned to duty on March 10, 1951. He was Killed in Action when his truck hit an enemy mine near the "Kansas Line" in North Korea on June 11, 1951.
