Chief Warrant Officer, Second Class Wilson was a member of 62nd Aviation Company, 11th Aviation Battalion, 1st Aviation Brigade. On January 8, 1973, he was the aircraft commander of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) en-route to Quang Tri, South Vietnam. It crossed the Thach River into enemy held territory and was shot down by a missile. His remains were recovered on August 27, 1996 and identified on October 4, 1999. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
