Lieutenant Colonel Williams was a member of the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On March 18, 1968, he was the co-pilot of a North American Super Sabre Fighter (F-100F) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on March 6, 1991 and identified on February 26, 1992. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
