Specialist, Fifth Class Westcott was a member of 8th Radio Research Field Station, 509th Radio Research Group. On March 30, 1972, he was serving as an advisor to the 4th Battalion, Vietnamese Marine Corps on Hill 550 near Don Toan Mountain and Cua Mai Loc, Cam Lo District, Quang Tri District, South Vietnam. Following a heavy artillery attack, the position was overrun. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
