Sergeant First Class Waldrop was a veteran of World War II and was taken as a Prisoner of War. In Korea, he was a member of the 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Hadong, South Korea on July 27, 1950.
