Major Tymowicz was a member of the 4th Fighter All Weather Squadron, U.S. Air Force. On November 7, 1950, he was the pilot in a F-82 Twin Mustang night fighter from the 68th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 6160th Air Base Wing on a combat mission. His aircraft crashed into Naha Bay, Okinawa. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
