Lieutenant Commander Trembley was a member of Attack Squadron 196, Carrier Air Wing 14 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On August 21, 1967, he was the pilot of a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) on a mission to strike the Duc Noi rail yard four miles north of Hanoi. After the strike his aircraft took a northern egress route over China and was shot down by a surface to air missile. His remains were recovered on October 14, 1999 and identified on March 24, 2004. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
