Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class Taylor was a crew member of a P4M-1 Mercator Patrol Bomber with Patrol Squadron VX-1, based at Naval Air Station Key West, Florida. On June 29, 1951, his aircraft engine failed on takeoff and the plane crashed killing 8 men.
