Staff Sergeant Stubbs was a member of Command and Control Central, 5th Special Forces Group. On October 20, 1969, his team was inserted into Laos just east of Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. The team was attacked by an enemy force and Staff Sergeant Stubbs was killed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
