Major Stow was a member of the 772nd Tactical Airlift Squadron. On April 26, 1968, he was a crew member of a Lockheed Hercules Transport Aircraft (C-130B) on a mission 10 miles northwest of A Shau Valley, South Vietnam at Thua Thien near the Laotian border, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
