Lieutenant Colonel Squire was a member of the 606th Air Commando Squadron, Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Airfield, Thailand. On July 12, 1967, he was the pilot of a North American Nomad Trainer (T-28D) on a night reconnaissance over Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered on June 1, 1992 and identified on July 19, 1995. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
