Aviation Machinist's Mate (Jet), First Class Soucy was a member of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron 2, Carrier Anti-Submarine Group 57 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS HORNET (CVS-12). On May 23, 1967, he was a crew member of a Lockheed Viking Anti-Submarine Helicopter (SH-3A) on a search and rescue mission over the Gulf of Tonkin and became lost. A life raft was found but his remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
