Staff Sergeant Ross was a rifleman with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On March 17, 1968, he was serving as pointman on a search mission in South Vietnam. As he approached an enemy bunker, the enemy opened fire killing him. His remains were recovered on February 8, 1993 and identified on June 14, 1996. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
