Major Rosenbach was a member of the 306th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 31st Tactical Fighter Wing at Tuy Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam. On March 5, 1970, he was the pilot of a North American Super Sabre Fighter (F-100D) on a night combat mission along the Demilitarized Zone. He completed his bombing run and was returning to Tuy Hoa, when he overshot the runway and went 8 miles out in the China Sea, when contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
