Airman First Class Rose was awarded the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Airman First Class Rose was a crew member in a B-29A Superfortress with the 30th Bomber Squadron, 19th Bomber Group and on temporary duty with the 371st Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing based at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. On November 10, 1950, while on a bombing mission near the Yalu River, his aircraft was shot down by six MiG-15s about seven miles southwest of Kusong, North Korea. He was taken Prisoner of War and died while a prisoner on November 14, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
