Sergeant First Class Ribac was a Light Weapons Infantry Leader with Company C, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. On September 18, 1950, when his unit came under fire near Uiryong, South Korea, he singlehandedly attacked the enemy, allowing his unit to withdraw until he fell mortally wounded.
