Staff Sergeant Rehe was a grenadier with Company A, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Infantry Brigade at Chu Lai, South Vietnam. On January 9, 1968, he was attacking enemy positions in "Happy Valley", Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam was taken prisoner but died in captivity. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
