Lieutenant Junior Grade Reardon was a member of Detachment 3, Helicopter Attack Squadron 3, stationed at Special Forces Camp Moc Hoa. On April 28, 1969, he was the pilot of a Bell Huey Utility Helicopter (UH-1B) on a patrol of the Vam Co Tay River, Kien Tuong Province, Cambodia when his aircraft came under heavy enemy fire and crashed. His remains were recovered on June 26, 2000 and identified on August 29, 2003. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
