Chief Warrant Officer, Third Class Ramos was a member of Troop C, 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment. On January 9, 1968, he was the pilot of a Bell Huey Utility Helicopter (UH-1C) on a gunship-cover mission about 20 miles west of Tam Ky, Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam, when the aircraft was hit by ground fire, crashed and burned. Chief Warrant Officer Ramos' remains have been recovered. His name is permanently inscribed on the Vietnam War Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
