Specialist, Fifth Class Ramirez was a member of 155th Assault Helicopter Company, 10th Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group. On May 23, 1969, he was crew chief of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) with the mission of inserting a 5th Special Forces team near Highway 13 in Kracheh Province 75 miles into Cambodia. His aircraft was hit by ground fire and crashed killing him. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
