Aviation Machinist's Mate (Jet), Second Class Prentice was a member of Fighter Squadron 142, Carrier Air Wing 14 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On October 2, 1969, he a passenger in a Grumman Greyhound Transport Aircraft (C-2A) enroute to the aircraft carrier USS CONSTELLATION near North Vietnam when contact with the aircraft was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
