Major Nobert was a member of the 41st Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Takhli Air Base, Thailand. On July 20, 1966, he was a member of the crew of a Douglas Destroyer Electronic Surveillance Aircraft (EB-66C) on an electronic countermeasure mission over Tuyen Quang, Quang Bac Thai Province, North Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by hostile fire. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
