Notes
Corporal Newburn was a rifleman with Company E, 4th Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On August 29, 1967, he was crossing a stream five miles east of Di An, South Vietnam when his raft tipped over drowning him. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
