For his leadership and valor, Major Myers was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Major Myers was the pilot of a RF-80A Lockheed Shooting Star photo reconnaissance aircraft with the 51st Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. On March 19, 1951, while on a photo reconnaissance mission near Sukchon, Korea, contact with his aircraft was lost. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
