Captain Morris was a member of the 716th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing. On December 26, 1972, he was the pilot of a Boeing Stratofortress Bomber (B-52D) on a bombing mission on Hanoi, North Vietnam, when his bomber was hit by hostile fire. He directed his crew to bail out. His remains were recovered on September 30, 1977 and identified on October 25, 1977. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
