Major Milikin was a member of the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On August 20, 1966, he was the photographer in a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) 5 miles southwest of Ron, Quan Binh Province, North Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
