Notes
Major McPherson was a member of the Marine Composite Squadron 1, Marine Air Group 11, 1st Marine Air Wing. On March 18, 1966, he was flying in a Skyknight Electronic Surveillance Aircraft (EF10-B) in support of an airstrike 10 miles west of Thanh Hoa City, Than Hoa Province, North Vietnam, when contact with his aircraft was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
