USMA Class of 1930, Colonel MacLean was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea he commanded the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 29, 1950. He was presumed dead on March 17, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
