Notes
Major Loring was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor with the 80th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group. On November 22, 1952, he was leading a flight of four F-80 jets on a close support mission near Sniper Ridge, North Korea. As he was attacking his target, his aircraft was hit and disabled, he deliberately guided his plane to the target without regard for his own life. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
