Lieutenant Junior Grade Letchworth, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Detachment Lima, Helicopter Support Squadron 1, aboard the aircraft carrier USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CVA-31) off North Korea. On February 27, 1967, he was a crew member of a Seasprite Utility Helicopter (UH-2B). As it took off from the carrier it flipped over into the ocean and he was killed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
