Ensign Langwell was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Ensign Langwell served aboard the minesweeper, USS MAGPIE (AMS-25) in Korean waters. On October 1, 1950, it struck a floating mine and sunk. Twenty one men were lost. He was listed as Missing in Action while engaged with the enemy. His remains were recovered on June 29, 2009 and identified on January 8, 2010. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
