Staff Sergeant LaBohn was a member of Command and Control Detachment, 5th Special Forces Group. On November 30, 1968, he was a passenger in a Sikorsky Choctaw Cargo Helicopter (CH34) being inserted in eastern Laos 25 miles northwest of the A Shau Valley, when the aircraft was hit by a 37mm anti-aircraft shell, crashed and burned. His remains were recovered on March 26, 1989 and identified on February 1, 1990. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
