Private First Class Kubic was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Chowon-ni, South Korea on February 12, 1951 and died while a prisoner on December 31, 1951. His remains were recovered on December 8, 1993 and were identified on March 12, 2011. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
