Lieutenant Colonel King was a member of the 333rd Tactical Fighter Squadron. On October 3, 1967, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
