Corporal Kile was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. As a member Task Force MacLean, he was fighting a delaying action against the Chinese near Changjin east to the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 12, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
