Private First Class Jones was a member of 128th Signal Company, Port Command, 1st Logistics Command. On November 23, 1969, he was swimming at the beach at Cam Rahn Bay, South Vietnam when he drowned. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
