Lance Corporal Johnson was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On July 29, 1967, he was killed by small arms fire while fighting the enemy in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
