Seaman Johnson, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of River Squadron 5, U.S. Navy. On February 3, 1967, he was killed by an enemy hand grenade thrown into his river patrol boat #51 on the Co Chien River west of My Tho, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
