Aviation Hydraulics Mechanic, Third Class Horchar was a member of Carrier Early Warning Squadron 116, Carrier Air Wing 15 aboard the aircraft carrier USS CORAL SEA (CVA-43). On April 9, 1970, he was a crew member of a Grumman Hawkeye Electronic Surveillance Aircraft (E-2A) over North Vietnam. Immediately after takeoff the plane caught fire and turned back to the carrier impacted the water three miles away. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
