Captain Holm was a member of Troop F, 8th Cavalry Regiment. On June 11, 1972, he was the pilot of a Hughes Loach Observation Helicopter (OH-6A) was making a visual reconnaissance of the northern provinces of South Vietnam, when the aircraft exploded and burned. His remains were recovered and identified on February 7, 2011. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
