Albert Oscar Herman was born in Preuben, Germany on August 17, 1863. He immigrated to the United States in 1889. He became a naturalized citizen on October 18, 1897. He worked at various railroad shops in the U.S. until he was appointed to work on the Isthmus of Panama. He arrived on November 13, 1905. He held several assignments with the Panama Railroad and was finally assigned as Foreman of the Wood Car Shop at Gorgona, Mechanical Division, Panama Canal Company. He died on April 26, 1921 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
