Notes
Captain Hemmel was a member of the 612nd Tactical Fighter Squadron. On October 21, 1967, he was the pilot of a North American Super Sabre Fighter (F-100D) on a mission near the coastline of South Vietnam east of Tam Ky, where his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
