Notes
Major Heiskell was a member of the 23rd Tactical Air Support Squadron. On February 6, 1967, he was the pilot of a Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft (O-1G) on a visual reconnaissance about 5 miles from Mu Gia Pass on the border of Laos and North Vietnam, when his aircraft was struck by enemy fire forcing him to bail out. As he was being rescued by a Sikorsky Sea King Search and Rescue Helicopter (HH-3E), the helicopter was hit by ground fire and exploded. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
