Specialist, Fourth Class Haight was a member of 191st Aviation Company, 13th Aviation Battalion, 164 Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. On May 9, 1970, he was flying in a Bell Huey Utility Helicopter (UH-1C) 5 miles southwest of Phy Vinh, Vinh Binh Province, South Vietnam when it crashed and exploded. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
