Captain Haas was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 370th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing. On March 19, 1951, while on a combat mission, an aircraft's engine burst into flames. Most of the crew bailed out. He was listed as Killed in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
