Lieutenant Colonel Gould was a member of the 2nd Bomber Squadron at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. On December 21. 1972, he was the radio navigator of a Boeing Stratofortress Bomber (B-52D) on a bombing mission of the rail yards at Hanoi. Enroute the bomber was hit by a surface to air missile and most of the crew bailed out over Laos. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
