Colonel Golberg was a member of the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On August 8, 1966, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission along the border of Ha Bac and Long Son Provinces in North Vietnam and about 25 miles southwest of China, where his aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered on September 30, 1977 and identified on October 25, 1977. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
