Corporal Gobble was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Corporal Gobble was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On December 12, 1950, while defending his position near Hungnam, North Korea, his unit was overrun by superior Chinese forces. He was declared Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. CPL Gobble's remains have been recovered and identified. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
